These small but versatile mammals are suitably adapted to their enviroment. A thick coat of hair in the Winter and a moult during summer, these change colour to. White in Winter, blue grey, brown in summer. They are opportunists taking whatever they can and storing food for winter. This individual had just killed a young goose and buried it for the winter larder. A very special moment it had just been harrsaed by a Long tailed Skua too !!!
